As a great many of you know, this last Saturday was the 50th anniversary of the premiere of Doctor Who. I've been a fan of the show for 32 of those years, so of course I was quite excited. Three Wisconsin cities where Doctor Who fans could attend public events to watch the global simulcast of the 50th Anniversary Special and one where they couldn't:

1. Appleton
2. Eau Claire
3. Milwaukee
4. Madison

I expected better from the home of WisCon and the Whedonesque Burlesque.

The grandfatherly Doctor belongs to a different time, 50 years ago in fact! Doctor Who is a different show now and its casting of the lead should reflect that. This is such a huge step backwards!

I watched a really funny, really depressing movie last night: In the Loop, a political satire set in the days immediately preceding the 2003 invasion of Iraq. It's funny because, well, it features funny people like David Rasche and Steve Coogan saying and doing funny things.
